Cad Plating:
Plating is an electrolytic process applying a particular coating to steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and its alloys, and other elements. Plating originated over 3000 years ago with the early Egyptians forming gold plating with simple conductive solutions. New technology has evolved plating into an electroless (without electricity) process.
Plating performs many engineering functions to include corrosion protection.
We perform the following types of plating:
- Black Oxide Steel
- Black Oxide Stainless Steel
- Cadmium - Bright
- Cadmium - Chromate (Gold)
- Cadmium Matte
- Copper
- Chrome - Decorative
- Chrome - Hard
- Electroless Nickel
- Chemical Film (Irridite)
- Manganese Phosphate
- Nickel - Bright
- Passsivate (of Stainless)
- Silver - Matte
- Silver - Bright
- Sulfate Nickel
- Tin
- Zinc - Bright
- Zinc - Chromate (Gold)
- Zinc - Phosphate (Heavy)
- Zinc - Phosphate - (Light)
Below is an example of Cad Plating:
Cadmium Plating On Tungsten
Black Oxide - Where plating cannot be used because of tight tolerances of the substrate, and corrosion resistance is not a major factor, black oxide on steel can be used. Also, because of its relatively low cost, it has gained popularity as a coating. New processes have been developed to provide a decorative appearance on stainless steel as well.
Stainless Steel is a material widely used in surgical, marine, and other corrosive atmospheres. A process called passivation (immersion in acid solution), removes surface impurities and form an oxide film that cleans and provides more corrosion resistance.
